Description

SITE GRADE B/C - some slopes, some brush, recommended for ages 9 and up, complete mobility is needed. Some areas may have heavy trash and heavy brush.


WHAT: Volunteers will clean along the Ted Jones Trail, parking on Woodstock Ave and picking up trash along the trail toward highway 70. Be prepared to walk! The trail is paved, but it is a long way. Golf Carts will be provided St. Louis County Parks to help volunteers transport trash!

After the clean up, join us atThe Audubon Center at Riverlands for the Watershed Picnic and Festival andPassport to Clean Water educational event from 11am - 2pm to celebrate our efforts and hard work! The festival will be hosted byOpen Space STL,The Audubon Center at Riverlands, andThe Army Corps of Engineers, and will feature free food, drinks, and activities for the whole family!

We'll also have a trash contest for all clean up participants. Did you find the biggest trash? The weirdest trash? The most bottles of Fireball? Bring them to the picnic for bragging rights... and prizes!

WHEN: 9-11am, Saturday, April 11th. Volunteer check-in will begin at 8:45am.

WHERE: The Ted Jones Trail parking lot on Woodstock Ave - see map for exact location. The exact address is 139 Woodstock Rd, Normandy, MO 63135.

WHAT TO WEAR:

  • Dress for the weather

  • Wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty

  • Sturdy closed-toe shoes or waterproof boots

  • Hat & sunscreen

WHAT TO BRING:

  • A filled water bottle - we recommend reusable!

  • Insect repellant, if preferred

  • Sturdy gloves, if you prefer your own


REGISTRATION NOTES:

  • The annual OS-STL liability waiver must be signed before a volunteer can register for this cleanup opportunity. To see if you have met this qualification, please view your profile here.

  • We encourage volunteers to pre-register, but walk-ups are always welcome.

  • T-shirts are on a first come, first served basis. Some sizes may not be available for volunteers.  If this site does not have enough t-shirts, come to the picnic to see if more are available there.
