SITE GRADE C/D - Heavy trash. Heavy brush. Steep slopes. Full mobility needed. Recommended for ages 16 and up. Sites containing inappropriate trash (condoms, drug paraphernalia) should also be ranked as C even if it is not difficult terrain. Some areas may be appropriate for experienced volunteers only. Heavy lifting. May involve heavy equipment and power tools.
WHAT: Volunteers will meet at Livingston-Wright Park, then split into groups to remove the trash in sections along the Creek. The St. Ann cleanup up will focus on a portion of the creek 3 miles north/upstream of Lambert Airport that is impacted primarily by urban runoff and trash dumping. Afterward, all volunteers are invited to a celebration picnic at St. Ann Park from 11am-1pm!
This site also includes Storm Drain Marking, for any volunteers who are interested. Storm Draining Marking provides a visible reminder of the impact of improper waste disposal, and helps communicate to the community that storm drains can carry pollution to area rivers and streams. As a storm drain marking volunteer, you will be provided with a map and all the supplies to mark the location of storm drains, helping to maintain the health of our area waterways.
