Bring your smartphone and love of nature as we kick off the first bioblitz at Lower Meramec Park. Help us identify the plants, animals, birds, and insects in the rare swamp woodland ecosystem a short walk from the Holzer Park trailhead parking lot.
The bioblitz occurs on Thursday, June 11th from 5.30 to 8.00pm and Saturday, June 13 from 9.00am to 11:30am. You can sign up for either one of the dates...or both!
Registrants will receive instructions to set up iNaturalist on their smartphone and the iNaturalist URL for this project prior to the event.
WHERE: Lower Meramec Park - Holzer Park Trailhead Parking Lot, Holzers Pk Rd, St. Louis, MO 63128. Exact locationhere.
WHEN: Thursday, June 11, 2026 from 5:30pm to 8:00pm. Volunteer check-in will begin at 5:15pm.
Saturday, June 13, 2026 from 9.00am to 11.30pm. Volunteer check-in will begin at 8:45am.
WHAT TO WEAR:
Clothes that you don't mind getting dirty, we recommend long pants and sleeves, as well as closed toe shoes. Be sure to tuck pants into socks and shirts into pants for tick protection.
Waterproof boots or sturdy shoes (the swamp woodland can be very wet and muddy!)
Dress for the weather!

A filled bottle of water - we recommend reusable!
Sunscreen
Bug/tick spray, and some will be provided

Pre-registration is encouraged in case of event rescheduling or cancellation
This volunteer opportunity is open to all ages. Children under 13 may volunteer only if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
