WHAT: The observation blind by the Wood Duck Pond has been choked by 12-foot tall invasive phragmites grass for past several years. Only with hand treatment will the grass be controlled to allow use of the blind by the pond.
WHERE: Little Creve Coeur Ecological Area 152 River Valley Drive, Chesterfield, MO 63017 Exact location here. We will assemble at the South Parking lot.
WHEN: Saturday, October 24, 2026. 9am - 12 noon. Volunteer check-in will begin at 15 min before event.
WHAT TO WEAR:
Clothes that you don't mind getting wet and dirty, we recommend long pants and sleeves, as well as closed toe shoes.
Depending on rain this year there may be standing water, making wading boots a consideration.
Dress for the weather!
WHAT TO BRING:
A filled bottle of water - we recommend reusable!
Hand tools will be provided. If you prefer your own power tools, you are welcome to bring them
Sunscreen
Porta potties are expected at the South Parking. Water for drinking and hand washing will be available
Herbicide use is optional; if used PPE is not optional.
Bring a friend. If time and interest we can meet afterward at the Lakehouse Grill

This volunteer opportunity is open to all ages. Children under 13 may volunteer only if accompanied by a parent or guardian and those 18 or under may not participate in herbicide application.
