SITE GRADE B - Some Slopes. Some Brush. Recommended for ages 9 and up. Full mobility suggested.
WHAT: Volunteers will cleanup areas around Christian Retention Pond in Spanish Lake County Park. Most clean up opportunities in this area will be on land, but there will also be canoes available for a water clean up. Because this is a lake and the area can be very muddy, volunteers may want to wear waterproof rubber boots.
After the clean up, please join us at The Audubon Center at Riverlands for our Watershed Picnic and Festival and Passport to Clean Water educational event from 11am - 2pm to celebrate your efforts and hard work! The festival will be hosted by Open Space STL, The Audubon Center at Riverlands, The Army Corps of Engineers, & Leave No Trace, and will feature free food, drinks, and activities for the whole family!
We'll also have a trash contest for all clean up participants. Did you find the biggest trash? The weirdest trash? The most bottles of Fireball? Bring them to the picnic for bragging rights... and prizes!
WHEN: 9:00am, Saturday, April 12th. Volunteer check-in will begin around 8:45am.
WHERE: Spanish Lake County Park, 12500 Spanish Pond Road, 63138. Volunteers will check-in at the parking lot off Trampe Rd. - see map for exact location.
